Social Support Groups

Looking to connect in a supportive and understanding community? We have social and peer support groups for varied ages, providing a welcoming space where you can be yourself and connect with others.

Each session offers a blend of guided conversation or activity and informal discussion. Facilitators  with lived experience ensure a safe, inclusive and respectful environment where everyone is free to join and participate in the way that feels best to them. A formal diagnosis is not required.

Format: In person and virtual options

Duration: 
There’s no long-term commitment — attend whenever your schedule allows. Pre-registration is required to ensure a comfortable group size and safe community space.

Fee: Pay per session. Accessible, flexible, and designed to meet you where you are.

Louise Gleeson

Louise Gleeson is a Registered Psychotherapist who passionately believes in empowering individuals navigating neurodiversity. With both professional experience and the invaluable personal insight from lived experience, she offers a welcoming and encouraging group setting focused on mutual support and guided exploration. Louise’s group is a space for adults to meaningfully process a new diagnosis for themselves or a loved one, share experiences, and move forward with community and support.

Louise facilitates alternating virtual groups for parents and individuals to help participants:

  • Process emotions about a diagnosis
  • Cultivate emotional wellbeing
  • Foster a community of peers
  • Exchange insights and building confidence
  • Learn how to advocate for yourself or your loved ones

Rob Simms

Robert Simms is a Registered Social Worker whose personal experience with late-diagnosis and fatherhood inform his work with clients. Having navigated the process of unlearning internalized ableism, Rob is passionate about providing a judgment-free space for men to unpack their life experiences, process neurodivergence, and redefine success for themselves on their own terms.

Rob facilitates virtual groups to help parents:

  • Connect with men who have similar experiences
  • Process thoughts and feelings about relationships, work, and parenthood
  • Explore internalized ableism and manhood
  • Share hardships, successes, and advice

Poe Liberado

Poe (she/they) is a Registered Social Worker who is passionate about supporting neurodivergent folks, queer and trans people, and racialized people to thrive in their purpose. Poe’s work is informed by their values of equity, empathy and integrity, and is inspired by the principles of Disability Justice. Poe’s special interests are grief, intergenerational trauma, and non-carceral mental health initiatives. Poe is a neurodivergent, queer solo parent invested in supporting other neurodivergent, queer adults on our journeys.

Poe facilitates virtual groups to help individuals:

  • Navigate the challenges of being neurodivergent and queer
  • Foster care and compassion for themselves
  • Feel seen, understood, and celebrate what makes us unique
  • Connect with a community of like-minded people
  • Develop skills to navigate a neurotypical world

This group is open to ALL sexual orientation and gender identity minorities, including those questioning or exploring their identities.

Sarah Philbrick-Djerfi

Sarah, a Registered Social Worker, offers a warm peer support group for parents of late-diagnosed or transitional age youth who feel they are falling through the cracks of existing support systems.

This group offers a space to connect with other parents and caregivers of children who have struggled with mental health and adaptive skills, yet whose needs have not been properly recognized by traditional developmental services.

Sarah facilitates virtual groups for peer-support and discussions about:

  • Managing caregiver burnout and developing sustainable parenting strategies
  • Navigating institutional support systems, particularly when your child doesn't qualify for DSO
  • Understanding why their child's intellectual abilities don't always align with their real-world skills
  • Planning for when their child reaches adulthood
  • Setting healthy boundaries to support their young adult's autonomy while maintaining connection
  • Redefining success on our terms and letting go of neurotypical expectations
  • Processing the emotions associated with an unexpected parenting journey

Taylor Malcolm

Taylor Malcolm is a Certified Nurse Pyschotherapist and Registered Nurse with a passion for trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and neurodiversity-affirming clinical practice. As a late-diagnosed AuDHD parent with two neurodivergent children, Taylor blends her personal and professional experiences to offer a support group for parents to find like-minded individuals to support each other while navigating the world as a neurodivergent adult and parent. Taylor’s group is open to self-identified or formally-identified neurodivergent caregivers of kids of any age.

Taylor facilitates virtual groups to help parents:

  • Join a community of neurodivergent parents who share similar and relatable experiences
  • Have a safe, non-judgmental place to be their authentic selves
  • Explore the social dynamics of mixed neurotype families
  • Share practical strategies to parent while managing our own wellbeing
  • Decompress and spend time with other people who "get it”

Dr. Julia Ryan

Julia is a Registered Psychologist with a passion for connecting with and supporting neurodivergent youth. Julia offers casual, in person meet ups to facilitate activity-based connections among youth ages 13+. All genders and gender identifies welcome.

Julia facilitates in-person groups for youths to:

  • Highlight strengths, interests, and aptitudes
  • Develop a sense of independence with personal goals and development
  • Support emotional self-understanding and expression
  • Foster safe connections with peers

Kevin Chin

Kevin is our Assistant Manager with lived experience navigating late-diagnosis. Kevin enjoys connecting with other neurodivergent adults, providing a space to socialize, and connect over shared interests.

  • Hang out, play boardgames, and share your interests, fixations, and everyday life experiences with like-minded people
  • Offer activity-based connection opportunities
  • Allow you to be yourself and participate as you wish
